What's on your heart and mind today?

 in response to MrsProps...

Hello MrsProps,

Is there anyway that the household could apply for food stamps?  I know it would not be much, but it would help out with the food.  Also, depending on where you live, you could go to your local Housing Authority and apply for Section 8 housing.  Sometimes the waiting lists are long, but it is certainly worth looking into.  The sooner you get an application in, the sooner you could have a place that you could afford.  There may also be a utility assistance program in your area; the best way to find out is to call your utility company and they can point you in the right direction.  If the bills are in your mother's name, she can certainly apply for these benefits also.

Many families are having to live together under one roof just to survive.  I commend you for everything you do and standing by your family.  I know it is stressful for everyone in the household.

Blessings,

Lynda

What's on your heart and mind today?

 in response to MagnoliaBlossom...

Hello Magnolia,

My heart goes out to you.  I know how hard it is to get out of a bad situation.  It seems the older we get, the harder it is.

Have you thought about going to counseling for you?  I understand that you cannot get him any help, as he refuses, however, sometimes just having someone to talk to about what is going on is helpful.  Also, there are several agencies that offer free counseling and, more importantly, a list of resources to help pull you out of a bad situation.  If you would like, I can research counseling agencies in your area so that you can chose one and consider going.  There is nothing worse than feeling alone.  Let us help.

Blessings,

Lynda

For the Survivors :-)

I have not updated my status for quite some time.

Just to let everyone know, I had to move (2 times in the last year), lost two jobs due to lay offs, and did, however, manage to start school.  Thank goodness for FAFSA and grants!

The last few years have been really tough for so many of us.  What can we do but keep plugging away!

Wishing everyone the best in all you do!

Blessings,

Lynda

Astro,

You should not have to pay fees for any grants?  What type of assistance are you looking for?

You are absolutely right.  One does need the undisturbed time to do this type of work.  The good thing about it is that it can be done when one does have the spare time.  There is not set limit that needs to be done every day.

Blessings,

Lynda

Data Entry

Hello All,

I have been earning extra money through KeyforCash.com for over a year and a half now.  They always pay, and I can make anywhere from $50 - $200.00 extra per month.  If you can type and follow instructions, this is easy work!

Blessings,

Lynda

Tried and True

Many of us have been out of work, laid off several times during the last 2 years, or just not able to work in a traditional job.  I am creating this page to offer opportunities that I have found on the internet that will not make you rich, but they are free opportunities to make a little extra cash every month.

Blessings,

Lynda

What's on your heart and mind today?

It is absolutely heart-breaking to hear the stories of pain and suffering.  There has been a a steady increase of economic strife for many families over the last few years, as more of us are getting hit with a higher cost of living and a decrease of salary, in some cases, even a loss of income.  It is hard to see the little ones suffer, as they do not understand.  I have nothing of material value to give, and I struggle every day to provide the basics for my family.  One thing I can give them during the holiday season is LOVE, KINDNESS and COMPASSION FOR OTHERS.  Therefore, I would like to share with you what I am thankful for:

I am thankful for the gift of my eyesight, that I can get up every morning and see the beautiful sunrise.

I am thankful for the gift of my arms, that I can hug my children and grandchildren.

I am thankful for the warmth that my winter jacket provides; it continues to warm me after 12 years.

I am thankful for the pot of beans on the stove, as I know many do not have even that.

I am thankful for my smile, as I know it can impact others, if only for a moment.

I am thankful for my gift of speech, as my words can make a difference in the lives of others.

I am thankful for my family and friends; for together, we can make a difference.

scholarships

Hello Abs - check out http://fastweb.com - you have to go through a registration process, but in the end, it will give you a list of all the scholarships you may qualify for.  I have found a few for the type of schooling I need, according to my profile.  Hope this helps!

PLEASE HELP ME PAY MY LIGHT BILL

To Netty:  I would contact your local social or human services.  Many times they can give you a referral to help you with utilities, and may even have programs to help you there at the agency. Also, sometimes churches are a good source of help and, if nothing else, can direct you on whom to call for assistance.

Money Saving Household Tips

Most of us here are struggling.  That is why we are here!  I hope these money-saving tips help in some way.

Rather than purchasing costly household cleaners, and they are quite expensive!) try these solutions:

Always keep these items in your pantry/storage area:

1.  Baking soda - A great odor eliminator for carpets, laundry, sink drains.  Can also be used as an abrasive cleanser and stain remover for scrubbing sinks, countertops, and tile floors.

2.  Vinegar - Fantastic for cleaning glass and metal surfaces.  Can also be used as a fabric softener in your wash cycle. Mix one part vinegar to one part water for most cleaning jobs.

3.  Lemon Juice - A wonderful natural disenfectant and deoderizor.  You can mix lemon juice and baking soda for a natural cleaning paste.

4.  Olive Oil - Mix one cup olive oil with 1/2 cup lemon juice for a natual furniture polish/cleaner.

Hope this helps.

Hello...I am interested in joining the Aidpaige AID Program.  I am a single mother raising grandchildren.  Although I need assistance in finding grants and scholarships for school and for day to day living, I believe I can contribute to the community as well and provide valuable information to help others, in my search to help myself.

Thank you Aidpage Team!
